Sometimes we have "words" we're holding onto that we haven't seen come to pass yet. What we do with those words matters... it matters how we steward these prophetic words-- whether they're straight from scripture or prayed or prophesied over us. It's our job to hold onto them, pray them, and declare them over ourselves on the darkest days to stir up faith and expectation because "God is not a man that he should lie" (Number 23:19).

74. Upgraded Self-Talk

Sunday Sep 15, 2024

Sunday Sep 15, 2024

Borrowed from a pivotal teaching on Declarations, Decrees, and Finding Confidence in God in 2020, Jesica addresses a core group of teachers seeking to upgrade their identity as a Kingdom Educator. She begins this episode emphasizing the importance of setting our minds on things above (see Colossians 3:2) for ourselves and our circumstances, and invites us to step into a Kingdom Educator Mindset, which hinges on us knowing our identity as Christ's beloved son/daughter first. Then Jesica moves into testimonies from her own public school classroom in which she helped students step into their God-given identities and the impact this brought to not only the classroom, but their lives as well. Next week we will continue this journey by moving into truth declarations for ourselves and our students.

Let's pause to examine some background beliefs we need in order to live as Victors in Christ (instead of victims) and carry the Kingdom into our schools. Our aim is to live each day with a Kingdom Educator Mindset:
1. Invite the Holy Spirit to help you take every thought captive and make it obedient to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), so we can step upward into our true identity as sons and daughters of the King.
2. Recognize that you're commissioned to carry His miracle working power into your school.
3. Meditate on the truth of scriptures that remind you of your identity and victory (like those listed below), and declare these truths over yourself so that you intentionally allow the truth to set you free from any lies that have held you in victimhood.
4. Remind yourself throughout the day that truly all things are possible (Mark 9:23), lay down what's in our hands, and ask God to breathe His unlimited ideas, time, resources, etc. on your needs and believe He will be faithful to do this (1 Thessalonians 5:24).

Victory Scriptures from Patricia King's Book Decree a Thing: Deuteronomy 28:13; Psalm 27:1; Isaiah 54:17; Luke 10:19; John 8:36,44; Romans 6:16; 8:1-2,17,32,37,39; 12:2; 2 Corinthians 2:14; 5:17,21; 10:3-5; Ephesians 1:6,20-21; 4:27; 6:14; Colossians 1:13; 2 Timothy 1:7; James 4:7; 1 Peter 2:9; 1 John 1:9; 2:1; 3:8; Revelation 12:11.

Even if you've just begun teaching you know the power of your thoughts! Our feelings can be up and down and all around in response to all we experience in single day at school, but the truth of our calling, identity, and who God is to us doesn't change... and so the Word of God becomes the bedrock from which we must live our lives as Kingdom Educators on mission. We're embarking on a journey of being transformed in our thinking so we can carry out the dreams on our King's heart within the world of education!

Pastor Tiffany Fruits has undergone some HUGE changes in her personal life to follow God's calling to become a home school mama and her obedience has required her own mental upgrade into victorious thinking. In this episode she shares some very practical tips for rewiring our brains from the "mundane" way of thinking into the "all things are possible" way of thinking, and it's by rooting ourselves on a few simple practices that alert us to the truth of God's Word:
1. Acknowledge the situation your in-- be honest with yourself about how it's very real,
2.Be aware of your feelings and identity why you're having particular responses,
3. Hand your responses to Jesus and ask Him what He thinks.
4. Finally ask God what you are to do. Maybe He wants you to notice someone today, give an encouraging word, do something, or just be. He will show you.

Just becoming aware of how we are feeling and giving those feelings to Jesus can change everything in terms of moving out of Victimhood into Victorious thinking. We can trade in overwhelm for heaven's hope-filled perspective!

If you haven't checked out parts 1 & 2, you'll have to go back and listen... but in this episode, High School Psych and History Teacher Dawn Rowe shares how it's often hard for us to receive goodness, especially the goodness of God. The truth is Jesus came to serve US. That may be a new concept for many of us, but Dawn lays out the truth of this reality and how it can change everything for us as educators on mission with the King. Knowing our true identity as spoken by our Good Father propels us into greater purpose and helps us to engage with seeing students and calling out their identity with the eyes of Love, our King. If you've been curious about bringing the Kingdom of Heaven into your classroom or how to set up a classroom culture to host Love Himself (Jesus) in your teaching space, you've just come across a gold mine! Teacher Dawn Rowe from Washington State comes to us with a passion to equip and encourage Christian Teachers wanting to share the revelation of Jesus with their students but haven't known how. She's done extensive study with Jamie and Donna Winship from Identity Exchange and her book The Ripple Effect of Love in the Classroom has been inspired by her 37 years of teaching experience and more recently grabbing a hold of tools that give her the ability to help her students learn their true identities.

In Part 1 we explore a number of resources including Footprints On Campus which encourages us to grab a hold of community members to begin the year praying for our students and our campuses! And don't forget to ask intercessors to pray for your individual students as prayer will change everything. Also, consider hosting a Bible Club this year and pray about what curriculum might be best for your students-- Good News Club and First Priority Club are being used by many of our friends from Christian Educators. The bulk of our time is spent with Dawn sharing the power of speaking life over students and literally saving lives through the regular use of "Spotlight Effect," her school's Prey Pride Awards, and Parent Postcards. I know her testimonies will rock your heart and you might find yourself shedding a tear or two. So grab some space to process, pause if you need to, and relisten to the portions that provide new tools for your teacher toolbelt in bringing the Kingdom of heaven to your classroom!
